General Information
Stay on the Farm
Breathe the fresh air, relax by the campfire, meander with horses in the pasture, wake to the sound of chickens…. enjoy life on an American horse farm. You are invited to stay on the farm throughout your vacation.
Lodging is provided in two very nice trailers with living quarters. Meals and non-alcoholic beverages are also provided. Click here to view photos of the farm.
Horseback Riding
Daily opportunities for riding will be designed to suit riders of varying experience. Stone Bridge Farm has an indoor riding arena which is fantastic for lessons and fun riding activities. There is also an obstacle course and numerous places for riding around the farm property. Our local trails have a lot to offer, from flat terrain, scenic streams, narrow wooded paths, to steep rocky climbs to beautiful vantage points.
Your vacation facilitators will select riding activities and trails that meet the desires and skills of participants. The pace of the riding will also be adjusted based on the comfort and experience of the participants.
For those that are interested, there will be many opportunities for gaiting and cantering. Click here to view photos of trail riding or fun riding activities in the arena.
Ground Activities
In addition to riding, we will be spending time learning lessons from horses through a variety of non-riding horse activities. Some of these activities will include time in the round pen, grooming and tacking, obstacles, and much more. Non-structured time with the horses is also possible. Click here to view photos of people connecting with horses in their own way.
Camping with Horses
We will haul the trailers and the horses from Stone Bridge Farm to a local campground where we will setup camp together.
Campfires, trail riding, cooking over a fire, horses tethered nearby, marshmallows and traditional American s’mores, and plenty of time in nature will all be part of the experience. Click here to view photos of camping.
The Epona Approach
The Epona Approach was developed by Linda Kohanov, best-selling author and thought leader in the field of Equine Facilitated Experiential Learning. Both workshop leaders are Epona Approved Instructors.
By using The Epona Approach, they will guide you in new creative ways to connect and partner with horses and humans. These activities will enhance your skills with horses and have many applications to your personal life and interactions with others.
Gaited Horses
All of the horses at Stone Bridge Farm are Rocky Mountain Horses (Rockies). Rockies are known for their calm, people-loving dispositions and smooth, flowing gait. They are a joy to ride because of their smooth movements. Training and guidance for riding gaited horses will be provided throughout your vacation.
Food
Homemade breakfast will be provided each morning. Lunches and dinners will be catered from a selection of local restaurants. We are able and willing to accommodate special dietary needs.
